Little Fogo Islands
Little Fogo Islands Over the years Little Fogo Islands became abandoned. This was mainly due to a decline in the fishery, younger generations moving to work in the more resourceful areas in Newfoundland and for reasons of convenience and more modern facilities. The last permanent family who lived there were the Donahue's, who resettled to Joe Batt's Arm in 1937. The older, remaining generations retired to neighboring communities of Joe Batt's Arm, Titling and Fogo. Former residents and visitors return every summer to celebrate church services in the newly restored St. Anne Chapel. It was built during the years 1886 to 1892 and is located on Wadham's Harbour Island. Little Fogo Islands is also frequented by visitors to hunt wildlife and pick lush ripe berries (bakeapples, blueberries, etc.).
