Ed Scammell - Bakeapple
|
The bakeapple, sometimes referred to as cloudberry (Rubus chamaemorus), is a low plant growing in bogs and producing an amber berry in late summer. Its four petalled white blossom can be seen covering the marshlands during early summer. The succulent berry can be eaten raw but it is mostly used to make bakeapple jam. This berry can be found throughout Newfoundland & Labrador. Photograph by Change Islands resident Ed Scammell. Mat and frame not included.
