Icebergs, thousands of years old, are frequently sighted during the summer months in the waters surrounding Change Islands. Large Icebergs can tower from 45 to more than 75 meters (150-more than 240 ft) and are considered to be 7-8 times larger under water. The icebergs that are calved from the glaciers of Greenland drift into Baffin Bay and the Labrador Sea and then will follow the Labrador Current until south of the Grand Banks where they encounter the Gulf Stream and eventually melt.
