Dragonflies are among the largest and fastest flying North American insects. These brilliant coloured insects have large, clear wings and their hemispherical compound eyes meet on top of the head. Adult dragonflies prey on midges, mosquitoes, caddisflies, and other flying insects. They range throughout North America, especially near ponds and slow streams and are less common in the West. Each dragon fly is individually hand-crafted and may differ slightly from the photograph shown.
