The Belted Kingfisher's stocky body is blue-gray and white and females have an additional rust-coloured chest band. These birds are excellent swimmers and divers and feed mostly on small fish. When a kingfisher spots a fish, it will dive, wings open, into the water to catch the prey. Belted Kingfishers range from Alaska across Canada and the United States and along the Atlantic coast in various aquatic habitats. Each kingfisher is individually hand-crafted and may differ slightly from the photograph shown.
